In Performance with the San Francisco Symphony & Residentie Orkest
Alisa Weilerstein reunites with longstanding collaborator Pablo Heras-Casado to perform the Schumann Cello Concerto with the San Francisco Symphony on October 19, 20, 21 and 22. The pair recorded Shostakovich Cello Concertos Nos. 1 and 2 both live and in the studio last season with the Bavarian Radio Symphony, which is now available from Decca Classics. The following week, Alisa presents two performances of William Walton’s Cello Concerto with Amsterdam’s Residentie Orkest as part of the eight-day Amsterdam Cello Biennale, first on October 28 at the Zuiderstrandtheater in the Hague and then on October 29 at Amsterdam’s Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ. Both evenings are lead by the ensemble’s new Principal Conductor Nicholas Collon. Alisa also performs Bach’s Cello Suite No. 2 on October 27 in Amsterdam as part of the Biennale activities.
