Alisa Weilerstein joins Alan Gilbert and Cleveland Orchestra
From March 15-18, 2018, Alisa Weilerstein appears as featured soloist as a part of the Cleveland Orchestra’s Centennial Season.
For the performances, Alisa and the orchestra perform Barber’s Cello Concerto, which she describes as “a very emotional piece…with fireworks and aching lyricism.” Together, they play under the baton of Alan Gilbert, Alisa’s friend and past collaborator.
On the upcoming dates, Gilbert states:
“[These performances are] special to me because I get to work with Alisa Weilerstein again, and I feel quite honored to have done her debut back when she was thirteen … it was obvious then that she would go on to incredible things – and she indeed has – and we are reuniting with the Cleveland Orchestra playing the magnificent Barber Cello Concerto.”
Following the Barber, the performances culminate with Dvořák’s spirited Eighth Symphony.
