This Spring: Larcher World Premiere with New York Phil and Bavarian Radio Symphony


This spring, Alisa Weilerstein gives the world and European premieres of Austrian composer Thomas Larcher’s new concerto – a co-commission of the New York Philharmonic and Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra – with the New York Philharmonic under Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider and the Bavarian Radio Symphony under Alan Gilbert, respectively.

This performance marks the third new concerto for Alisa this season, following Gabriela Ortiz’s Dzonot and Richard Blackford’s The Recovery of Paradise.

Appearing in The Power of Us with JDRF


Alisa Weilerstein launches her new role as Celebrity Ambassador of JDRF, the juvenile diabetes research foundation, with a special guest appearance in The Power of Us, the organization’s first national telecast. Having been diagnosed with type one diabetes at nine years old, the cellist introduces her own filmed performance of the prelude from Bach’s First Cello Suite, highlighting a star-studded evening hosted by CNN correspondent Cristina Alesci that will stream on Facebook and YouTube.

Live-streamed Concert with the NDR Elbphilharmonie


On June 19, Alisa Weilerstein joins conductor Alan Gilbert and members of the NDR Elbphilharmonie for a live-streamed concert from Hamburg, Germany. Alisa performs Tchaikovsky’s beloved Rococo Variations in a program that also include Bartok’s Divertimento, and Hadyn’s Symphony no. 92.
