Bach Cello Suites Praised as “A Performance That Sings”


Critics have praised Alisa Weilerstein’s “Bach Cello Suites” album, which was released on Pentatone earlier this spring. The Guardian’s Erica Jeal reviewed the album, saying:

New Album and #36DaysOfBach


On April 3, Pentatone released Alisa Weilerstein’s recording of the complete Bach Cello Suites.

One of the crowning glories of the classical canon, Bach’s suites have long been featured in Alisa’s programming and have come to play an increasingly central part in her career. The LA Times has called her interpretations of Bach, “a true model of the meaning of mastery when it comes to what a string instrument is capable of.”

As a response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Alisa has channeled her deep love and appreciation for Bach into a 36-day long project called #36DaysofBach.
